Below we summarise some of the issues which may be relevant to your work

Mental capacity

Mental capacity of service users is an issue which is fundamental to virtually every aspect of the relationship between service providers and users.

Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPAs)

An Enduring Power of Attorney permits a service user to appoint someone else to manage his or her affairs even if mental incapacity subsequently arises.

Court of Protection

The Court of Protection is a branch of the Supreme Court which deals with the affairs of the mentally disordered. It's workings are a mystery even to many lawyers as well as to administrators, social workers and care providers

Wills

Wills not only deal with who gets what on death but also many other issues.  A professionally and well drawn will can provide a service user with great peace of mind and is potentially an important abuse avoidance measure
