What is the Solution Focus Interview Technique?

People have problems; they turn to support services and professionals to help them.

Many strategies spend time looking at the problem. In concentrating on the problem there is painful reinforcement; the client dwells on the problem and not on the solution. What the client actually needs is to be able to move on from the problem and thus to lead a happier and more fulfilled life.

bulletSolution focus interviews (in contrast to other techniques) are an efficient and highly effective brief process which concentrates on the development of solutions rather than the development of the problem and enables the client to develop his or her own self-esteem.
bulletRegardless of life’s issues it is possible with SF to empower clients to lead happier and more successful lives even in the most trying of circumstances
bulletSolutions are developed through two processes:
bulletone focuses on the preferred future (that is, on alternative possibilities or where the client would ideally like to be) and 
bulletthe other explores and builds on the clients abilities strengths and resources and upon identifying any action already taken to move in this direction.

These two activities have proved both effective and efficient to enable adults and children with the widest range of problems to work out their own unique and lasting solutions.

The collaborative ethos this approach engenders is further enhanced by its emphasis upon what works rather than what is going wrong.
